A strong cast with great performances from Andy Daniel, Danny Webb, Sophie Colquhoun, Jonathon Cullen, Joanne Howarth, Zahra Browne, Stephen Ventura and Steph Bramwell; make this short a slot not to missed at this years festival.

We spoke with director/writer Christopher Baines about the tasks of getting the short film off the ground.

Spohie Colquhoun delivers a warming and engaging performance in Dusters, which can be seen at this years London Lift-Off Film Festival, October 10th @3pm.

From conception to completion how long was the project?
The film took a year to complete.

Why did you make it?
We knew a crew who were keen to make a short film so I wrote twenty short scenarios and we chose one of these.

How did you fund it?
The film was fortunate to be given generous discounts by facilities companies. The cast and crew donated their services.

What were the major pitfalls, if any?
Because we were not paying our cast and crew, it was sometimes difficult to get them to commit in advance. There were one or two quick last minute replacements. Even when well planned, films made like this often seem to come together properly in the last days before shooting.

One line wonder? Andy Daniel plays a mute door to door sales man who is desperate to visit the chip-shop.

What do you think was the most challenging area for your cast?
For Andy Daniel the most challenging aspect was to play the lead role with only one line.

Overall were you happy with the film?
It is always a huge achievement to have shot a beginning, a middle and an end - everything else is a bonus!

What would you have done differently?
With so much work and anticipation before shooting, it would have been better to have got more sleep before the first day.

Do you have any message/advise for those looking to make a film?
Plan as carefully as possible, feed everyone really well and enjoy it!
